    Position Summary

We’re looking for a dynamic, forward-thinking Assistant Director of Human Resources to help us elevate our culture and make a meaningful impact across our organization.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    In collaboration with the Head of Human Resources, the responsibilities of the Assistant Director of Human Resources include, but are not limited to:
     
    Benefits Administration:
      • Oversee the administration of health, dental, and supplemental benefits, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (FMLA, PFL, ACA, ERISA, COBRA).
      • Manage annual open enrollment, leading communication efforts, vendor coordination, and employee education sessions.
      • Oversee the administration of medical leaves and ensure coordination of all applicable leave types based on local, state, and federal regulations (FMLA, PFL, STD, LTD, Worker's Comp)
      • Develop and maintain user-friendly benefits guides to help employees navigate available leave programs.
      • Research and recommend new supplemental benefits to enhance employee well-being.

    Employee Relations and Engagement:
      • Act as a trusted advisor to managers and employees, providing guidance on workplace concerns, performance issues, and conflict resolution.
      • Lead the resolution of employee relations matters, including conducting investigations, mediation, and disciplinary actions.
      • Champion employee engagement initiatives, such as recognition programs, well-being and belonging efforts.
      • Ensure a fair, inclusive, and respectful work environment aligned with organizational values.

    HR policies, procedures and compliance:
      • Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal employment laws, proactively updating policies as needed.
      • Develop, interpret, and enforce HR policies and procedures, ensuring consistency across departments.
      • Assist in the preparation of compliance-related reports and responses to regulatory agencies.
      • Stay current with evolving employment law and HR best practices to mitigate legal risks.

    Payroll Coordination:
      • Lead the coordination of the semi-monthly payroll process, ensuring timely and accurate execution of payroll exceptions (e.g., new hires, terminations, unpaid leaves).
      • Act as backup for payroll processing, ensuring seamless operations when needed.
      • Ensure payroll compliance with wage laws, deductions, and benefits contributions.

    Performance Management and Professional Development:
      • Provide strategic performance management guidance, assisting managers in coaching and evaluating employees effectively.
      • Assist in the development and implementation of Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) to address performance concerns.
      • Research and recommend professional development opportunities to close skill gaps and enhance career growth.
      • Support the creation of training programs to strengthen leadership and employee capabilities.
    Recruitment/Hiring/Onboarding:
      • Oversee and enhance the onboarding experience, ensuring new hires feel welcomed, informed, and set up for success.
      • Assist with recruitment strategies, hiring processes, and documentation, ensuring compliance with internal policies.
      • Support the annual review of orientation and onboarding programs, incorporating feedback for continuous improvement.
    Perform other duties as assigned.
     
    Qualifications and Skills
    Education/Experience
    • A Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred
    • At least 5 years of progressive HR experience, leading benefits administration, employee relations and payroll; 
    Skills/Abilities
    • Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
    • Experience managing benefits administration and payroll processes.
    • Proficiency using Google Suite and ADP Workforce Now (or similar HRIS systems).
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills; ability to articulate ideas clearly, both orally and in writing, and effectively communicate complex HR concepts to a diverse audience.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to think strategically and act tactically to achieve goals.
    • Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to act with integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism in all HR matters.
    • Strong collaborative and innovative mindset
    • Bilingual in French and English 
    • SHRM and or HCI certification preferred

    The Lycée Français de New York, a world-leading independent bilingual French K-12 educational institution, recognizes the strategic role of development, fundraising and data in informing, assessing, and advancing the school's core educational objectives and in enabling a strong financial and operational foundation.

    The Development Database & Analytics Manager plays a pivotal role in the  school’s Development department. Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Database & Analytics Manager oversees the day-to-day and long-term operations of all aspects of the Raiser’s Edge database and assures its quality, consistency, and accuracy. The position is responsible for maintaining and improving the overall integrity of the Raiser’s Edge database and its continuity with other databases in use at the School; for reporting and reconciliation both within the Development Office and with the Business Office; for analysis in response to fundraising needs; for collaborating on the implementation of Development-specific technology tools; and for ensuring that the Development office adheres to school-wide policies and procedures on data collection, retention and management.

    Accredited by the New York State Association of Independent Schools, the New York State Board of Regents, and the French Ministry of National Education, the Lycée Français de New York is a Nursery-12 international private Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµlocated on the Upper East Side of New York City. With over 68 nationalities represented, the Lycée offers a vibrant and diverse learning environment for students.

    At the Lycée, well-being is an essential foundation for learning. Under the leadership of the Dean of Middle School, the Student and Community Life Department is responsible for ensuring a safe and nurturing learning environment while upholding community rules and agreements. The Lycée Français de New York is seeking an experienced professional to join this dedicated team on a full-time basis as a Secondary Assistant/Grade Coordinator, beginning with the 2025-2026 Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµyear. 

    Here are the qualifications for this position:

    Required
    • Minimum of 3 years experience in an educational setting 
    • Demonstrated knowledge child development, pedagogy, and positive discipline practices
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • High level of professionalism; ability to react quickly, calmly, and appropriately, during emergency situations 
    • Ability to interact with children in a positive and nurturing manner
    • Proven knowledge of conflict management strategies
    Preferred
    • Bilingual or fluent in French
    • Comfortable in large and small group settings 
    • Experience with Google suite, Blackbaud, and other educational software
    • Strong team player 
    • Area of interest or special expertise such as expressive arts 

    Compensation
    This is a full-time, non-exempt academic position, operating on the Lycée Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµcalendar. The annual base salary being offered is commensurate with experience and ranges from $50,000 to $60,000.

Programme d'échange de visiteurs (Visa J1)

Le Lycée Français de New York a été désigné comme sponsor du programme d'échange de visiteurs pour les enseignants depuis 1961.

Au cours des cinq dernières décennies, le Lycée a reçu des dizaines d'enseignants étrangers, principalement de France. Ces échanges permettent de découvrir la société et la culture américaines, ainsi que son système éducatif. Ils agissent comme des ambassadeurs de leur pays d'origine, partageant avec leurs collègues et les élèves leur propre culture et leur "savoir faire".

En effet, le programme d'échange de visiteurs du Lycée est une opportunité unique pour nos professeurs étrangers d'affiner leurs compétences professionnelles en expérimentant une nouvelle philosophie éducative et de perfectionner leur connaissance de la langue anglaise.

Une fois le programme terminé et de retour dans leurs pays respectifs, ces professeurs sont en mesure de partager leurs connaissances et expériences nouvellement acquises avec leurs pairs et, ce faisant, de contribuer à promouvoir la compréhension mutuelle entre les habitants des Etats-Unis et ceux de leur pays d'origine.
